This section covers the unglamorous work that keeps a website healthy: performance, redirects, analytics and launch checks. We write for the person who owns the site and has an hour to fix it, so the advice is ordered by impact and effort rather than by fashion.
Most slow sites are not slow because of the framework. They are slow because of a hero image, an ad script and a font that loads three times before the headline appears.
A redesign is a business risk disguised as a design project. The new site is only a success if the old traffic, links and conversions survive the switch.
What we look for
Every website guide is checked against the same standard: does the detail survive real use, is the cost stated honestly, and would we recommend it to a colleague without a warning attached. When a tool or device falls short, the caveat goes in the guide.
Where figures or standards matter we defer to public documentation such as web.dev and Google Search Central, then sanity-check them against our own tests before publishing.
