About Us: Who We Are and How We Test
Geneviea Slinger is an independent technology journal: practical guides for people who build, run and market websites, written by someone who does the work rather than repackages a press release.
Who we are
We are a small editorial team with a background in web development, digital marketing and consumer technology. The site started in 2021 as a private notebook of tool tests and launch checklists, shared with clients who kept asking the same questions about cost, speed and what actually works.
Today the archive is public and free. We cover five sections: Tech, Gadget, Website, SEO and Marketing. The focus is the same as it was in the notebook: what the tool costs, what it does after the demo, and whether a simpler option would be a better use of the money.
Our mission
Our mission is to give readers the information a good consultant would give them, without the retainer. That means real prices, tested devices, measured website performance and marketing advice that includes the cost of the campaign. If a product is not worth the subscription, we say so even when it is popular.
We would rather publish two useful guides a week than ten that repeat the same list. When a claim cannot be verified, it does not go out under our name.
Editorial standards
No sponsored picks and no pay-to-rank lists. We buy or borrow at normal retail terms what we test, disclose any relationship, and correct mistakes in public within 48 hours. Numbers come from our own tests, public documentation and official standards bodies, never from a press release alone.
When we recommend a device or a workflow, we include the trade-off. A foldable laptop with a shallow keyboard, a cloud bill that grows with egress, an email cadence that works only for a certain list size. The caveat is part of the guide.
The team
- Geneviea Slinger, editor and lead writer, a background in web development and digital marketing.
- Contributing testers who run gadgets and tools in daily work before a verdict is published.
- A small production desk that checks every link, price and dated claim before release.
Supported by readers who send corrections and by the occasional long weekend spent rebuilding a test site. If a claim does not hold up in practice, it does not go out under our name.
Talk to us
Corrections, pitches or a product we should test? Email us at [email protected], or use the contact page. We reply within one business day, and we read every message, even when we cannot feature every one.
If you are new here, start with the Tech section or our most recent guide to AI agents for small business.
Where we cite standards or technical guidance, we point readers to public documentation such as web.dev and the W3C, alongside our own testing.
